Let me review. These financial institutions on the brink of extinction come to the American taxpayer for hundreds and billions of dollars at the very same time they think they’re going to buy a $50 million corporate jet. They’re going to pay out $18 billion in bonuses. They paid an average of $2.6 million to every executive at the first 116 banks that got taxpayer money under TARP. Let me say that again. An average of $2.6 million in executive pay to the folks at the first 116 banks that got money from the taxpayers. They don’t get it. These people are idiots.
You can’t use taxpayer money to pay out $18 billion in bonuses. Merrill Lynch is unbelievable. They saved $3 billion to $4 billion from the pot of money that was going to Bank of America. The sale is going to close the first week in January. They always gave bonuses in January. You know what these sneaky guys did? They decided to give their bonuses in December before Bank of America took over – paid out $3 billion to $4 billion in bonuses in December and that quarter Merrill Lynch lost $21 billion. What planet are these people on? What could they be thinking about? – Senator Claire McCaskill

 A Thrilling Ride
Starring Woody Harrelson, Ben Kingsley and Emily Mortimer, TransSiberian is one of the memorable movies that I have seen. Ben Kingsley is excellent, excellent, as the Russian detective and this was no surprise. He says “In Russia, we have expression; with lies, you may go ahead in the world, but you may never go back.“ Emily Mortimer is outstanding, very impressive. As a mild warning, there is a torture scene and its a bit graphic. The movie has a good end. The director is Brad Anderson.
After you watch this one, let me know your thoughts about it.
 Cleveland Area Foreclosed Property Auction
Curiosity took me to a real estate auction for properties in foreclosure in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. It was held on November 8, 2008 at the Holiday Inn in Strongsville. I had received an email from Joseph Kutina about this auction. Joseph Kutina is with Reo Property Consultants in Strongsville, Ohio.
Each property that came up for bid was put up on the screen and bids were solicted. The folks in the blue shirt noted the bids.
A lady who sat in front of me lost a bid for a condo in Sagamore Hills, her last bid was $18,000. The highest bid for the condo was $20,000. She look at the bid winner and then walked out of the hall after this condo auction with a look of disappointment. A couple of young women had the winning bid at $1700 for a property. A property in the Elyria area received a maximum bid of $100, yes, one hundred bucks. → continue reading Cleveland Foreclosure Auction
A mammoth in Signature of Solon, Solon Ohio
A yellow sign in front of this house at 7381 Vahalla Drive, in Signature of Solon in Solon, Ohio had the website link to Williams and Williams, a real estate auctioneer. The estimated value of this property according to zillow.com is $727,000. The sale is on January 22, 2009 at 3 PM according to the auctioneer website. Nominal opening bid was $100,000. There were several homes for sale signs in Signature of Solon at this time and this was surprising.
Signature of Solon is near the intersection of Aurora Road and Pettibone Road. Both these roads are two lane, physically undivided roads. Aurora Road (11, 400+ vehicles/day, year unknown) has higher traffic volume than Pettibone Road (1,900 vehicles/day, year unknown).
Some homes in the pretentious Signature of Solon subdivision (Zoned R-1-F Golf Course Community) are likely to have one or more these features:
- Too voluminous for the family and lot size. Have you ever seen a 500 square feet walk-in closet?
- Somewhat similar looking exteriors despite the multiple roof lines.
- Awful 2 story/cathedral/elevator shaft living room ceilings typically seen in McMansions.
- Sub par single flight staircases with poor riser and tread dimensions.
- Few trees in the front yard.
- Large sunlight inviting windows that also degrade the appearance of living room furniture and electronics.
- Cul-de-sacs.
- Good construction quality.
- Good construction material quality.
- Highly educated neighbors.
 Signature of Solon, Solon, Ohio
I saw house for sale sign on Aurora Road near Signature of Solon, so I decided to have a look at this gated community. A gated community refers to a fenced housing development, typically having a security guard at the gate. I did not note a fence around Signature of Solon. Access to vehicular traffic is controllable through the black metal gate seen above.
Gated communities are non-existent in Wisconsin. I am told that Texas has more than a few, so do California and Florida.
