When you download Atahualpa WordPress theme, it comes with three header images. One of the three images is shown above. The three images are 1300 pixels wide and 160 pixels in height and all are less than 45 kilobytes in size. These images are located in /public_html/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header directory. If you prefer to use your own header images, simply upload any image of 1300 x 160 pixels size in /public_html/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header directory.

I am a Civil Engineer from Louisiana State University. The compound word, Americaneer, is a combination of the words, American and Engineer.
Thanks for this post! Found it very informative. I am also using the same theme!

@ Patty: Try Thoughts from beardyland; has Atahualpa header images from England, Austria and San Francisco.
I am very new to WordPress and I need a little help. Is the directory /public_html/wp-content/themes/atahualpa/images/header directory to change the images for this theme located at my host server? Or is it located somewhere within WordPress. I’m assuming it’s located under my host server. Would that be correct? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Joan: You are correct. The directory is located on your web host’s server. You may upload the header image files via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client like FileZilla. If you have any more questions, I would be glad to try to help.
OH, thanks Americaneer! I do like the Grand Canyon one…will keep checking for more!
Hugs, Patty

Hello Americaneer, I need to upload a piece of graphic in the header image area, probably as an Illustrator file saved as a GIF picture. I know how to do this and also the uploading procedure BUT I also need to give this image seven different links which is parts of the picture linking to pages underneath. Do you by any chance know how to do this? I tried to make the links in the Illustrator file, but Atahualpa can’t upload the file.
[...] The images displayed across the header on each page, in rotation, were retrieved under a Creative Commons license from Thoughts from beardyland… and Americaneer. [...]
Atahualpa is an realy exciting theme. Special the possibility to have the slider on each page and also the usability with 4 sidebars. Amazing!
Nice post. I study something more difficult on completely different blogs everyday. It’s going to always be stimulating to learn content from other writers and practice a bit of something from their store. I?d prefer to make use of some with the content material on my weblog whether you don?t mind. Natually I?ll provide you with a link on your internet blog. Thanks for sharing.
I’m changing my header at the moment, I also use atauhalpa. It’s proving difficult to find good 1300 px width images
