Instituted in early 1990′s, the City of Solon’s Recycling Program is doing well.  According to a July 2009 report presented before City of Solon Public Works Committee; in May 2007, the approximate recorded recylables were 68 tons; in May 2009 this number increased to 129 tons.  The recyclables are processed by Waste Management.  The Chinese business professionals are actively participating in making the city’s recycling program a success.

City of Solon has a number of residents of Chinese and Asian background.  Solon’s top rated public school system serves as an attraction to the Chinese community.  Another major attraction to the chinese community is the Cleveland Contemporary Chinese Culture Association (CCCCA) supported Chinese school that meets in Solon.

Update August 26, 2009:  It was observed that about 1 in 10 households on a City of Solon street is participating in recycling.  While this single observation indicating lack of participation by the residents is not valid for the entire City, it cannot be said with absolute certainity that the City of Solon’s recycling program is doing well.
